Primary climate risk
Drought and desertification
Advancing dryland conditions and erratic rainfall weaken rain-fed farming, grazing land and water supply.
Source (2024)What the public record covers
On every question the documents say something, but never enough to confirm the answer. CAI also read 53 climate-relevant budget and expenditure lines published by this jurisdiction.
This shows what CAI found in public documents, not climate performance. A gap in the record is not a zero, and is not proof that nothing is happening.

Is a climate policy or strategy published?
Zamfara’s official website hosts a 'ZAMFARA CLIMATE CHANGE' policy document with Zamfara-specific ministry/monitoring and evaluation language, actions, indicators and budgets. However, the same document’s implementation section states that 'Sokoto State has adopted' the policy-development approach, creating a material jurisdiction/template-integrity concern.

This shows how many published lines mention each kind of climate work. It does not show how much money was allocated, and it does not show what was actually spent.
Where the public record stops
- The public record shows general fiscal/audit accountability visibility, but does not disclose a completed audit-control cycle specifically covering climate-relevant public expenditure with response and independent closure.

Is a reduction in emissions measured?
The public sources reviewed did not provide all the measurement needed to establish the reported result.
Is the number of people helped to cope with climate impacts measured?
The public sources reviewed did not provide all the measurement needed to establish the reported result. ZACADEP and land restoration programme records do not expose unique direct beneficiaries.

The public sources reviewed did not provide all the measurement needed to establish the reported result.
Were stated targets met?
ZACADEP/land restoration programme and policy sources visible. No due 2025 result against the target established.
